Boho Friendsgiving Dinner

Welcome to our boho-chic Friendsgiving inspired by the blush, cranberry and ivory tones of Fall. To style this celebration a few girlfriends and I combined Fall harvest florals with eucalyptus and boho accents such as DIY hoop wreaths, macrame, fringe and rose gold flare, along with my printable Boho Fall Blush decorations! Other decorations included a stunning fabric banner by Rusty Chic Decor and colorful balloon garlands by Oh How Charming.

Amanda of Rusty Chic Decor created a welcome table featuring name tags and a chic fabric banner, and a "Friends are the family we choose" sign greeted guests while setting the mood for a fun night with the girls. To complete the look, eucalyptus, Fall florals and feathers filled the table drawer and cascaded down into a grouping of blush and orange pumpkins.

As guests entered the celebration, they gathered around the buffet table created by Lauren of Oh How Charming, which was accented by colorful mini balloon garlands and displayed an array of appetizers including crispy brussels sprouts, a grazing board and cranberry brie bites.

Every celebration should have a signature beverage so Jenna of Manners and Manhattans mixed up some delicious fall sangria! Instead of mixing up bespoke cocktails try serving a simple recipe that can be made in a large batch ahead of time and served in a pitcher or punch bowl. For our Friendsgiving we used Ina Garten’s Autumn Sangria recipe from her book, Cook Like A Pro, modifying it slightly. We combined cabernet sauvignon, cold pressed spiced apple cider (you can use regular apple cider as well), Laird’s apple brandy, cinnamon infused simple syrup, and lots of fruit to make this wonderful signature drink to toast our guests. As you’ll see in Ina’s recipe, she uses both apple and pear brandy; however, to save on cost we just used the apple brandy and the sangria was still delicious.

I had the pleasure of creating our tablescape! Once dinner was ready, personalized place cards assisted guests in locating their seats at the large dining table. Each place setting included a mini bottle of rosé, adorned with a festive Fall label, for guests to enjoy as they browsed the dinner menu. Printed menus are a wonderful way to elevate an event while adding more decor to your table and ours were secured to lace-edged napkins with macrame napkin ties. The tablescape included rustic white plates, silver cutlery and crystal goblets accented by blush placemats. Sprawling eucalyptus and pumpkins were layered on a macrame table runner with candles placed throughout.

This macrame table runner from Target made the perfect base for my centerpiece. From there I added two beautiful faux Eucalyptus garlands, faux floral stems and grapes from Dollar Tree and a variety of decorative pumpkins from Target and Hobby Lobby.

Traditionally I always feature candles on my dining table so I picked up these geometric candleholders at Dollar Tree, which I painted rose gold with this spray paint from Amazon.

I used the same color on these adorable salt and pepper shakers, also from Dollar Tree, which were formally bright orange!

For the place settings I used blush place mats and silverware from Amazon, along with crystal goblets and rustic white plates that I already had from a discontinued line at Macy’s. These beautiful linen napkins are from Amazon but I couldn’t find napkin rings that matched the table runner so I went ahead and made my own out of wooden beads and braided cotton cord from Hobby Lobby.

Place cards were included at each place setting, helping guests locate their seats where they browsed dinner menu cards. Lively conversation was exchanged over a delicious meal of Roasted turkey and honey baked ham accompanied by sides of mushroom risotto, roasted vegetables, baked sweet and garlic mashed potatoes.

Instead of opening one large bottle of bubbly, we included mini bottles of rosé decorated in bottle wraps at each place setting to toast to what we’re most thankful for this year!

Sweets are a must-have around the Holidays and the dessert table that Lori from Pop of Gold created didn't disappoint! We served classic store-bought pumpkin pie dressed up with flowers, cookies, individual chocolate mousse cups and a donut tower elevated on a cake stand. Whimsical decor included a mini balloon garland with baby's breath and tassels throughout, as well as floral arrangements accented with feathers against a backdrop of fringe hoop wreaths.

The evening was a smashing success, complete with delicious drinks, eats and good cheer... But alas, rather than sending our guests into the throws of Holiday chaos alone, they each left with a delicious party favor made by Cafe Everyday Sunday! Slow roasted pumpkin spiced pecans are a wonderful Holiday snack and look adorable gifted in mini Mason jars with hand-tied bows and personalized gift tags! We sure had an amazing time putting this Friendsgiving celebration together. You really can't go wrong with a party filled with good friends, food and gratitude!
